The Festival of the Buddha’s Birth
At this time of year we would normally be welcoming people to the temple to celebrate Wesak, the Festival of the Buddha’s Birth. Unfortunately, we will again not be able to meet in person this year, but on Saturday the 8th of May we will be holding the festival over zoom so that Lay Sangha members can join in from where they are. Details will be sent out by email during the coming week.
We hope that you have a joyful Wesak, however and wherever you choose to celebrate it.
Redecorating the Common Room
Now that the building work at the temple has been completed we have turned our attention to redecorating all of the rooms that were affected. The first one that was ready to work on was the Common Room, and the photo below shows the room after the ceiling had been painted.
The darker yellow line is a picture rail, and the walls will be painted in the same colour as this. Some boxing in the far right corner has also been taken out and the corner re-plastered, and the floor has been levelled where the chimney breast used to be, ready for the carpet.
The carpet will be fitted during the coming week, and once that has been done the main altar will move from the Meditation Hall to the Common Room, which will become its temporary home whilst the Meditation Hall is redecorated.
Redecorating the Meditation Hall will take some time, as it is quite a large room, but we hope to have it ready for when we can hold events again, which hopefully will be in late June.
